Getting to know Menzies

Menzies Jewellers has been a shining fixture in the heart of St Agnes since 1989, founded by the passionate husband-and-wife team, Linda and Dave Menzies. From the very beginning, the store stood out—not just for its stunning, handcrafted pieces, but because Linda herself was blazing a trail as South Australia’s first female jewellery apprentice back in 1973. Over the decades, she became a master of her craft: a qualified jeweller, gemologist, diamond grader, broker, and valuer. With Dave by her side, they built more than a business—they created a community hub where generations came for engagement rings, anniversaries, heirloom repairs, and a warm, familiar face behind the counter. Their commitment to quality, honesty, and personal service earned them multiple business awards and a fiercely loyal following.

In December 2024, after more than five decades at the bench and behind the scenes, Linda hung up her loupe and pliers and stepped into retirement. That’s when I—Bob—took over the reins. With a jewellery career that began in 2008, I’ve worked across the industry, learning the trade from the inside out. It’s an honour to carry forward the legacy Linda and Dave created. My vision is simple: preserve the craftsmanship and personal touch Menzies is known for, while bringing in fresh creativity and modern techniques to serve our amazing customers for many years to come.
